ELCIC & CLWR Appeals

    Augusta Victoria Hospital

CLWR assists the Augusta Victoria Hospital (AVH), which is administered by The Lutheran World Federation, in meeting its mandate to provide medical service to those living in East Jerusalem, the West Bank and Gaza. AVHprimarily serves the Palestinian population but offers care to all regardless of creed, religion, race, nationality, gender or ability to pay. Approximately 20 per cent of patients are refugees. It provides many specialized services that are not easily accessible or that are unavailable in other hospitals in the occupied Palestinian Territories.

    Iraq Emergency Relief

CLWR is supporting families displaced by violence in Iraq. Many communities are struggling to support all the extra people who’ve moved into their areas because of the violence, and water resources that were already strained have become even more overworked. Upgrades to public water systems will make a difference, including that homes will have better access to the main water lines. CLWR also supports the provision of mental health services to people affected by sectarian violence.

Donations will go where needed most. For example, funds could provide clothing, personal and household hygiene supplies, and food vouchers for the most vulnerable people. It could support peace building initiatives and vocational training for women. It could rehabilitate schools and provide school supplies to children, or it could help provide psychosocial support to youth and young adults.
